The Xigmatek HDT-SD964 has four heat pipes that are connected to the aluminum base that fits directly onto your processor. We’ve seen these kind of designs on GELID’s Silent Wing and on other coolers as well. The base is flattened and the fit is quite good.
This cooler is compatible with Intel’s 775 socket and and a whole list of AMD sockets. Installation for my socket 775 motherboard is done by using the same retention principle as used on your original intel cooler. It’s easy and it works really good.
Im using an trustee old 775 socket that only requires me to remove the old cooler, clean off the thermal compound on the processor and stick the cooler on there. Push down the clips and it’s installed.
I used SiSoftsandra’s built in Burn in tool to stress the system and the idle temperatures were measured during internet browsing and minor computer activity.

The Xigmatek SD964 is a fairly small cooler, it only has a 92mm fan and there are coolers double the size of the Xigmatek SD964. Yet it still performed quite nicely. It’s much more silent than the original Intel cooler and its lighter, looks better and it’s quite cheap too. The SD964 is a good cooler for the price but if you are not completely satisfied with the cooling performance then you can always get the bigger 120mm version. We’ll have that review up in a matter of days. In the end this is a good choice if you are looking for something different than the other brands. Xigmatek is really making a name of their selves and they do a pretty good job in delivering a quality cooler.
