Last week we reviewed the 92mm HDT cooler from Ximatek and it was much quieter than the original Intel cooler. It’s cheap and the cooling performance was noticeable but since it was just a small 92mm cooler it didn’t perform as good as any of the coolers we are going to look at these couple of days. Today we have the Xigmatek Achilles on our test bed and it is a large heat pipe cooler with 4 heat pipes and a colorful 120mm led fan.

The Xigmatek Achilles S1284C has an attractive retail packaging that shows the cooler and provides a bunch of information on the back. Although most of the coolers we are looking at look pretty similar, under the hood there are more differences. This cooler has 4 large heat pipes that are directly connected to the bottom of the heat sink.

Included with the Achilles S1284C are the instructions, some mounting hardware for either LGA775 or any of the modern AMD socket types. Also included is a 120mm fan with red blades and white led’s.
