Performance

I used SiSoftsandra’s built in Burn in tool to stress the system and the idle temperatures were measured during internet browsing and minor computer activity.

  • All the temperatures were measured using Speed fan.
  • All these temperatures were measured with a room temperature of around 21 degrees Celsius.
  • And the results are displayed in Celsius

System used

  • Intel Pentium E6300 with Arctic Silver 5
  • Asus P5B
  • 2x 1GB PC6000 CL4.0 HyperX
  • Sapphire X1950Pro with Arctic Silver Ceramic
  • 1x 74gb WD Raptor HDD
  • 1x NEC DVD Burner

The PW850i should be seen as an entry level water-cooling kit. Each component is of high quality, to ensure durability and ease of use, with this in mind if you look at the results you can see it’s doing a pretty good job on cooling my oldie e6300. The faster the fan setting, the better it cooled but it’s a noisy fan, so you should consider swapping it for a higher quality one with decent airflow. I picked the Alphacool CoolAnswer 3 and the Gigabyte 3D Galaxy because they’re both complete kits aimed at entry level users. If you want something a little more professional than you could go for the lower end Swiftech kits or something else from other manufacturers.

The Thermaltake PW850i is a complete water-cooling kit that has everything sorted out to get you going with water-cooling. The instructions are clear; the components are of high quality and everything works just fine right out of the box. The kit sells for about 120 euro’s and basically if you are looking for an entry level water-cooling kit, for not too much money than this is the way to go. You could even upgrade it with the bigger and better 240cm radiator to increase its cooling capacity.

Final Verdict

  • Kit looks great
  • Has everything you need to get into watercooling
  • Easy installation with a detailed manual
  • Price/Quality level is quite good.
  • The pump resonates a lot and it has no dampening material
  • Fairly cheap
