The Pump/Reservoir
The included pump is a small yet powerful pump that pumps 500 liters per hour. The base of the pump can be attached onto the case with screws. The reservoir can hold up to 350cc of fluid and it has a cap on the top for easy filling. It also has markings on the side to tell you whether the fluid levels are too low.
The pump has no padding underneath the foot, which adds to the noise that this pump produces. The pump resonates a lot and it’s really noisy if you do not add any padding or dampening material underneath the pump. There is also no way to control the speed of the pump so you can’t turn it down to make it more silent.
The pump has an inlet that has to be attached to the reservoir. It’s hold on by a rubber seal that also makes it a tight seal. There is no extra mounting bracket to keep the two components in place in case of any moment so I was a bit skeptical whether it would work out but it ran perfect. Though I would have liked to see something to keep the two parts attached at all time.
Installation
Installation for the PW850i is pretty straightforward. The instructions manual is very clear and full of pictures and information. The first step you should do before you install a water-cooling kit, is to get everything in place, except your hardware. You can prep your motherboard and install the mounting bracket, but do not attach your hardware to the cooling yet. First test run the kit to see if it’s not leaking anywhere.
Each component is connected by clips to prevent the tubing to come off. The reservoir has a large filling cap and it’s easy to fill the system. I also didn’t have any problems with air bubbles. You keep the cap off when you’re running the system to bleed any air out. Do not let the pump run if there is no water/fluid inside the reservoir because this will damage the pump.
I included two pictures of the mounting system. It’s pretty straightforward, you just need to remove your original cooler and go ahead and add the bracket to the back of the motherboard. Add the insulation to the mounting plate and secure everything all the bits and pieces. Then add some thermal compound to the processor, add the water block and tighten it down.
