The M9D has two thumbscrews to hold the right side panel and regular screws to hold the left side panel. Once you opened up the case your greeted with the instructions manual and a small box with the usual bits and pieces to mount motherboards that are not ATX. The case already has standoffs built onto the motherboard tray to directly mount your ATX motherboard, which is a nice feature, it saves you some time installing those stand offs.

Included is one front bay plate to cover up the spot in case you want to mount a 3 1/2 drive. It comes with a small cable to connect to the front led’s and the screws and bits to install various hardware.

The PCI slots have an easy to use system to lock the cards in place. It works so so, because it doesn’t actually hold the cards all that tight, I could move them around a fair bit when the plastic bits were completely pushed in. In case you want to use regular screws to mount your cards than you can remove the entire fastening system and just use screws. Remember to remove only the pci backplates that you are using, because you need to break them off and they will not be re-usable again. Thermaltake also didn’t include any spare pci plates. Only one is included.

The M9D has room for up to 9 drives, or 5 drives and room for three hard drives suspended in the hard drive cage. Thermaltake uses a very nifty system to hold the drives and hard drive cage in place. I really like it and it’s very easy to work with. You have these plastic retainers with a little screw bit in the middle that you can turn round to either fasten the drive, or loosen the entire thing and remove it, or the drive.
