Inside

The Revoltec Zirconium is not the most spacious case available, lack of a removable motherboard tray doesn’t help either. It’s weird, that none of the newer cases these days have a removable motherboard tray? I always found it real easy to have. It makes tinkering inside something from the past. Sure it doesn’t work when you either have a large cooler on your processor, or a water cooling block attached, but in other situations it’s quite handy actually.

All the drives are installed by using sliding brackets that lock into the case. There are two sorts, one for the hard drives and one for the drives on the top. The drives on top require sliders that are attached by screws. But the hard drives have plastic sliders that are clicked into the holes where you would normally insert a screw to attach the drive to the computer case.

Only the floppy drives requires a few screws to keep the drive in place. But who needs a floppy drive these days anyway? The front also has a bracket for one 120mm fan. Sadly this fan is not included with the case. Don’t ask me why, but some cool air over your hard drives never hurt. Revoltec, next time, include an additional fan ! :)

Revoltec has made a simple, yet attractive case for not too much money. The Zirconium is currently sold for around 60 euro’s. The front of the case is sleek and the I/O ports on top are a nice addition for easy access. The blue led’s in the front lit’s up nicely. Although the case is a bit cheaper, it surely doesn’t have to be less good than other cases that are twice the price of the Zirconium. The Zirconium has the same internals as higher end cases and the finishing touches are just as good. No sharp edges to be found and no vibrations from hard drives either.

Final verdict

  • Sleek, but not too expensive.
  • Available in two colors.
  • I/O Ports on the top.
  • Tool-less pci slots and drive mechanism.
  • Air duct for heat dissipation.
  • LED’s in the front.
  • No removable motherboard tray
  • No 120mm front fan included
