If you are looking for a new mouse mat, or a new mouse pad than you have a large variety of brands and types available. The gaming surface industry is crowded with all types of variations and some large names such as Qpad, XtracPads, Steelpad and now Razer has brought different versions to cater the needs of gamers all around the globe. The Razer Goliathus is a cloth mouse mat consists mostly out of non-slip natural rubber which is elastic and non slip. It holds the mouse firmly on the desk and it won’t move about. The actual surface is a different story; it’s made from a woven cotton fabric with a delicate texture to keep your mouse on track.

I’ve had this mouse mat for a good couple of weeks now and I find the regular size to be more than enough. I could easily go with the smaller space-efficient version because you aren’t actually using most of the width of the mouse mat. The mouse mat feels soft and it’s pleasant to rest your wrist on. A drawback to the woven cloth is that it fray’s on the edges quite easily.

The Razer Goliathus kept great track of my mouse, I’ve been switching around between Razer’s Salmosa and CyberSnipa’s Stealth mouse and both worked without a hitch. It kept great track of my cursor and I’ve been enjoying Fallout 3 for a good week now.

The Razer Goliathus sells at just under 20 dollars for the regular version, 15 for the space efficient version and 25 dollars for the oversized version. These are very reasonable prices and you get the feeling you are buying something different than the rest. I always get this feeling when I am using something from Razer. Their packaging, the looks the quality it all comes down to the utmost care they take to make their products just a little bit different than the competition. Sure a gaming surface, or simply put a mouse mat. Is nothing special and underneath the bonnet most of these mats are similar to each other. Overall it’s a nice mouse mat, but I don’t foresee myself using it longer than a year, because it would be worn out too much on the edges!
