The Razer Diamondback 3G is shaped ambidextrous which basically means that you are able to use it with either your left hand or your right hand. Most mice are shaped for use with your right hand. Like their Deathadder. Luckily for me I’m right handed, but what if your not right handed? Razer thought of that, and thus providing it for a bigger audience than most gaming mice have.

The new 3G diamondback has a higher sensitivity for the sensor, instead of being an optical sensor with 1600dpi, it is now equipped with a infrared sensor capable of handling up to 1800dpi. A part from that the Diamondback 3G differs only slight with the original Diamondback by the colors and the inch per second it can handle. From 40 to 60~120 inch per second.

The Razer Diamondback 3G has 4 side buttons, where one has a double function of increasing or decreasing the sensitivity while holding it and using the scroll to decrease or increase. At first your annoyed by the position of the buttons. I’ve used many ergonomic mice with buttons close to your thumb, but with the Diamondback 3G the buttons are placed somewhat to the back/center of the mouse. It took me a while to get used to that but in the end I couldn’t be bothered by the position and more since I was used to the feeling, the way my hand was on the mouse and the way I was using the buttons. Instead of moving your entire thumb, you just need to twist it and touch the button. I guess that’s the whole point behind the position of those two side buttons on the left. The two buttons on the right however are a bit more tedious to use. I don’t use them that very often to be real honest.

The two top buttons work just fine and so does the scroll button. It’s hard not to like the use of them since they operate very smooth and secure.

The bottom of the mouse are fitted with three teflon strips that are pretty wear resistant. I’ve been using this mouse full time for the past couple of weeks and the mouse still glides real smooth over my fUnc mousepad.

The Razer Diamondback hold it’s own in gaming or random office work. I saw some reviews where the Diamondback 3G wasn’t recommended for normal daily use. But I’ve been using it for a while now and mostly for daily work and it works brilliant, just keep the sensitivity lower or otherwise you’ll be bouncing the cursor round the screen. A part from that it’s very comfortable if you use the two left side buttons, but the right side buttons are placed in the wrong spot.
