A while back we looked at some brands of thermal interface material, names like Arctic Silver, Arctic-Cooling and Cool Laboratory passed by and now it’s time for another brand to step in the game. They call themselves Gelid Solutions and they provided me with some GC-1 Thermal compound.

A closer look
Gelid’s thermal compound comes in a retail packaging. Gelid Solution has a green and black theme going on, on their website which they have followed through with their packaging and their products. On the packaging are a few websites that have given the thermal compound awards, also visible are the features and specs of this TIM. Along with a graph on the back that tells you how GC1 works compared to Arctic Silver 5.
Included with the thermal compound is a small applicator, it helps you spread the material over the processor. What I like to do though it just add a blob in the middle and have the pressure of the cooler spread out the material. This way you know it will fill all the gaps by itself.
Now it’s hard to pin point the exact improvement or disadvantage of certain compounds, the testing can be influenced by temperature drops, air flowing through the room or even the sun pointing at your rig. But let’s see what this thermal compound des with moy computer and I’ll give you results next
