Each hard drive cage can hold up to three drives vertically mounted, or two mounted horizontally using the drive brackets. The screws securing the drives in the cages all have silicone grommets. These dampen the noise caused by the vibrations coming from the hard drives.
Both hard drive cages can be removed and it’s essential to leave the bottom one out if you are going to use a very large video card, like the 8800 series or anything with similar dimensions. One of the drive cages also has the little toolbox. This can hold the screws and tie rips if you’re not using them. This comes in handy when you are frequently adding or removing hardware and you want to have a place to keep it stored close by.
The bottom part of the Mini P180 has room for the power supply and two additional 5 1/4 drives. It also has an additional vent with a filter on the very bottom to allow more air to come into the case.
Before we wrap this review up. One last look behind the motherboard panel. As you can see it has pre-installed tie-rips for cable management. This way you can wire the cables at the back of the case directly to the hardware. The Mini P180 also has additional tie-rips included if needed.
The Antec Mini P180 is a beautiful case that has all the ingredients, like the bigger P180 to make this the ideal case if you are looking for something sleek, silent and you care for detail. The HDD cages are easy to work with, the two compartments isn’t there solely for cooling purposes but it also keeps the case clutter free from all the wires and personally I really like the look of it. This case also has enough airflow and it has room for two more 120mm fans. It might become a bit noise since the front door is in the way, but if you want you could swing it to the side due to the angle at which the door swivles. Overall it’s a really good case and at first you wouldn’t believe this is a Micro-ATX case, it’s fairly large and it has plenty of room to house some serious hardware.
