First Impression
Oh yes baby it arrived, I was quite anxious on receiving this package, not for the chipset cooler but for their latest water-cooling kit :). Anyway Swiftech’s usual shipping method came again to the test and it was excellent, nothing was damaged and boy did the bottom of that heatsink shine!
I chose the Pentium 4 model which is the MCX-159 P, the cooler came with some thermal paste, and the instructions. Swiftech’s typical heatsink design is noticeable and again they’ve lapped the hell out of the bottom to make it shiny, let’s continue our guide for seeking the ultimate air-cooled chipset cooler.
The Heatsink is made out of copper and thin aluminum pins which increases turbulence for more efficient heat dissipation compared to traditional fin extrusions. And again the bottom looks amazing, it has 4 protection pads, these are used for two purposes: stabilize the heatsink, and minimize the risk of damaging the processor core upon installation. These pads must be removed when installed on chipsets protected by a heatspreader.
The heatsink comes with a vapo bearing Sunon 40mm fan, not to confuse with the Asetek Vapochill
these fans are extremely silent and only produce 18 dBA of noise, not nearly as loud as your fan on your powersupply.
