MCW5000 CPU Block

This is a high quality piece of work, props to Swiftech for this upgraded product, they made the installation process way easier with their updated mounting system and the overall quality is again as great as their previous blocks.

Extreme performance:

  • 1/2″ OD tubing for optimal flow rate
  • Core Technology: Patent pending Diamond-Pin Matrix© copper base plate
for optimal heat transfer due to turbulent flow and high flow velocity:

Plug-and-Play, hassle-free installation:

  • Snaps directly into Intel® Pentium® 4 stock retention frame (socket
    478), without removing the motherboard.
  • Snaps directly to AMD® socket 462 retention latches, without removing
    the motherboard.
  • Snaps directly into Intel® Xeon™ socket 603/604 retention frames
    without removing the motherboard.
  • Bolts directly onto the newest AMD® Athlon™64 and Opteron™
    retention frames
  • Tool-free quick-connect fittings built into the block
  • Convenient 45° orientation of inlet, and outlet helps eliminate kinks
    in the tubing installation.

Different models

  • MCW5000-A™ for AMD® Duron®, Athlon® MP, and XP2600 and
    up.
  • MCW5000-P™ for Intel® Pentium® 4 (socket 478), 1.4 to 3Ghz
    and up.
  • MCW5000-PX™ (rev 2) for Intel® Xeon™ (socket 603/604), 1.4
    to 3Ghz and up
  • MCW5000-64™ for Athlon™ 64 & Opteron™ processors
  • MCW5000-PT Thermoelectric assembly for Intel® Pentium® 4 (socket
    478) processors

The new CPU waterblock release 2 “dropped deck” improves performance by up to 1°C compared to earlier versions released with Swiftech, the upper deck of the housing is lowered to increase flow velocity through the Diamond-Pin Matrix©. This in effect improves the rate of heat transfer to the cooling fluid, and results in overall improved performance. Swiftech has released their second series of waterblocks some months ago and it really showed some improvement, the way the tubing is connected is different and this waterblock is capable of being used with all modern cpu’s.

Specifications

CNC machined aluminum L2.5″xW2.5″xH1.5″
Type II, class 2 blue anodized anti-corrosion treatment
Built-in quick-connect fittings for 1/2″ OD tubing (3/8″ ID)

The bottom is made out of copper which is CNC machined to a special diamond-pin Matrix that increases heat dissipation, and flow turbulence to enhance heat transfer to the liquid. Exceptional quality and attention to details: the base plate is lapped to 0.0003″ (3/10 of 1/1000″), and polished to near-mirror finish to promote optimum thermal conductivity. To sum it up, it’s very very shiny, each and every block is made with care and leakage is far from possible.

I received a pentium 4 version ( with hold down )along with a socket a hold down but Swiftech made very clear that there were several different versions to support the athlon 64 series of CPU’s and even the older celeron CPU’s Installation was very easy with the included clipons and plastic insertion tubes were included as well which goes inside the flexible tubing to make sure the tubing is installed properly and no liquid could be leaking.
