Scythe obviously tried to please both party’s because they designed a cooler which can be used on multiple platforms which is always good to know. This cooler comes with several accessories to make it fit on almost any p4 based motherboard, or athlon based motherboard. Let’s take a look at what’s included.

  • Cooler
  • Silent 80mm Fan
  • Instructions
  • Pentium 4 hold down
  • Amd Athlon hold down
  • Fan Controller
  • Thermal Paste

The Kamakaze cooler resembles the look of those older Alpha coolers which there “the hype” back in the old days, the brackets used to assemble the cooler onto the motherboard is attached to a base which has a little screw. By turning the screw you can make the necessary adjustments to the pressure to optimize the contact between the core and the base of the cooler. Watch out now because it’ll easily crush your AMD Athlon processor if you don’t take great care while going through the installation.

Bracket installed with the AMD Athlon hold-down.

The 80mm fan supplied is very silent and one of the reasons it’s so silent is because the Kamakaza cooler has it’s own fan controller connected to the 80mm fan. The controller is mounted on a pci backplate which then can be installed inside your computer case so you’ll be able to determine the speed, and the noise of the fan.
